F.A.Q.

The Wi-Fi in parts of my house is awful! What can I do?

This depends on several factors such as size of home, turns in hallways, amount of network activity and even the type of paint you use! Do I need a firewall? I only do light web surfing..

The honest answer is most likely not! While you can never be too careful, many conventional home routers provide a soft firewall built in to the device that will prevent intrusion from the outside world. However, those who work from home, store financial information on their PC, or have children with open web-access, you may still be vulnerable without the added layers of protection.

I think I have a virus! What do I do and how did this happen?

Rule number one if you think your computer is infected- Disconnect from the internet or shut off your PC! The simple truth with computer viruses is that 99% of the time it's not a virus at all, but a product of phishing or email scams; Disguised links in what looks to be a reputable company where they trick you to giving them your information or access to your machine. If you think you've been affected by a scam or a virus, give me a call for a consultation and cleaning. I also provide 1 on 1 sessions on how to recognize these attacks.

I've heard someone say my PC might be "bottlenecked." What does that mean?

Simply put, a bottleneck is when one piece of your computer operates much faster than another. This can cause your PC to crash, run extremely slow, or overheat. The most common bottle-necks occur at the CPU (Processor) or GPU (Graphics) level. This is why it's important to have a professional assess your needs to determine the level of hardware required to have a seamless and speedy experience with your computer.
